Welcome to the home of the Mighty Purple Pups – Lanier Middle School Athletics!  Since 1926, Lanier Middle School has been raising the bar for athletic accomplishments. Home of perennial championship programs, Lanier boasts one of the largest offering of athletic programs of any HISD middle school.  We are proud of our storied tradition and the athletes that have matriculated from Lanier.  We look forward to many more exciting seasons with many future accomplishments.

** Athletics are before and after school activities and do not replace the physical education credit students take during the school day. **

Lanier Athletics Forms 

Athletics forms are completed online through the Aktivate website, formerly Register My Athlete. No student-athlete will be allowed to participate in tryouts, practices, or games until they have been cleared by the district trainer. Athletes should keep a paper copy of your physical to submit to your coach for review.

Athletic paperwork for Fall sports is due by Friday August 1, 2025.

Athletic paperwork for Winter and Spring sports is due Monday September 1, 2025.

Last submissions will be accepted but could delay the student from being eligible to participate in tryouts or join a team.

Aktivate - Parent Instructions

Houston ISD requires two documents to be uploaded in each student's Aktivate account. The first is a completed physical examination form. The family medical history is filled out by the student's guardian and the examination is completed by a doctor of your choice with the doctor's stamp at the bottom by their signature. The second document is the HISD Athletic Insurance Waiver (if you would like to use your own insurance) OR a copy of the SchoolPay receipt (if you choose to purchase secondary insurance through HISD).

(HISD will only accept a physical on this form, and it must be dated after May 15, 2025, for the '25-'26 school year.)

Families must purchase HISD athletic insurance for $35 through SchoolPay (Do not choose the option in Aktivate) OR complete and notarize the HISD Athletic Insurance Waiver.
