Debate
Lanier Speech & Debate
Find Your Voice. Speak with Confidence. Think on Your Feet.
Founded in 1997 and with over 25 year of excellence, Lanier’s Speech and Debate team offers students a dynamic opportunity to build critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive communication skills. Through local and regional competitions, students learn to research complex topics, construct strong arguments, and engage in respectful discourse. Open to all grade levels, Speech & Debate is both a dynamic elective class for 6th–8th graders and an afterschool club available for 6th graders not enrolled in the class looking to build skills and compete in a fun, supportive environment.
Whether you're interested in dramatic interpretation, public speaking, or argumentation, you'll have the opportunity to practice, perform, and compete in tournaments throughout the year. No experience is necessary—just bring your voice and your passion
Debate fosters confidence, teamwork, and leadership — making it one of the most enriching extracurriculars on campus. Whether students are new to public speaking or seasoned debaters, all are welcome to join and grow in a supportive, intellectually challenging environment.
