Lanier Library

The Lanier Middle School Library is a welcoming, inclusive space designed to support literacy, research, and a love of reading for all students. Our library offers a diverse collection of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and digital resources to meet the academic and personal interests of our student body.

All students visit the library once a month through their ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading) class for a minimum of 45 minutes. These sessions allow time for book checkout, independent reading, library instruction, and exploration of new materials. Students are also encouraged to visit the library during designated open hours for additional reading and research opportunities.

📋 Library Policies

⏰ Library Hours

  • Open Monday–Friday: 8:20 AM – 4:10 PM
  • Open access before and after school and during select advisory times.

📅 Class Visits

  • Students visit the library monthly with their ELAR class
  • Visits last at least 45 minutes and include:
    • Book checkout/return
    • Reader advisory or library mini-lessons
    • Quiet reading or independent research time

📚 Book Checkout Policies

  • Students may check out up to 3 books at a time
  • Books are checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed once unless on hold by another student
  • Students are responsible for returning books on time and in good condition

💻 Technology Use

  • Computers are available for school-related work and research
  • Students must follow the district’s acceptable use policy when using library technology

❗ Behavior Expectations

  • Use indoor voices and respect others’ need for a quiet reading space
  • Treat library materials and furniture with care
  • Food, drinks, and gum are not allowed
  • Follow instructions from the librarian and staff at all times

🔄 Lost or Damaged Books

  • Students must pay for or replace lost or damaged books
  • Replacement copies must be new or in good condition
